Inter 1st year: build habits
- Read one newspaper editorial daily and summarise it in three lines
- Keep a simple current-affairs notebook by month
- Practise one legal and one logical reasoning passage a day
- Revise Class 10 arithmetic: percentages, ratios, averages
Inter 2nd year: technique and mocks
- Timed sectional tests every week
- A full-length mock every one to two weeks in the final months
- Analyse every mock: which passages took longest, which errors repeat
- Revise the last 10–12 months of current affairs
Balancing boards and CLAT
Keep fixed slots: board study first, then 60–90 minutes of CLAT practice. Around board exams, pause new CLAT topics and only keep reading going.
Common mistakes
- Memorising GK facts instead of understanding news
- Skipping mock analysis
- Guessing blindly despite negative marking
- Starting only in the last three months
Frequently asked questions
How many mock tests should I take for CLAT?
Quality matters more than number; most students benefit from regular full-length mocks in the final months, each followed by careful analysis.
Can I prepare for CLAT without coaching?
Yes, with disciplined reading and mocks. Coaching helps with structure, feedback and test practice.
