What actually drives the price
| Driver | Why it changes the price | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Programme length | A 5-year integrated pathway carries years of teaching, mentoring and tests | Total cost per year, not just the headline figure |
| Live faculty hours | Taught classroom hours cost more than recorded content | How many hours per week are live, and who teaches them |
| Evaluated tests | Human-evaluated Mains answers and personal feedback are the costliest component | How many tests are evaluated by faculty, not software |
| Batch size | Small batches raise per-student cost but improve mentoring | Batch strength and aspirants per mentor |
| Material and test series | Printed notes, current-affairs compilations and All India test series may be bundled or billed separately | Whether the quoted fee includes all of them |
Costs that hide outside the fee
- Registration or admission charges quoted separately from the course fee.
- Test series and current-affairs material billed later as 'optional'.
- Interview guidance and mock interviews charged as a separate module at the end.
- Relocation costs if you move cities — rent and food near a coaching hub like Ashok Nagar for the full cycle.
- Repeat-cycle charges: what happens if you need a second year? Ask before paying.
How to compare two quotations honestly
- Put both quotations side by side and list what each includes: live hours, evaluated tests, material, mentoring.
- Convert to cost per evaluated Mains answer — the most valuable unit you are buying.
- Ask both institutes for the instalment schedule and any concessions in writing.
- Check the refund and transfer policy for both before paying anything.
- Attend a demo class at each before deciding — you are comparing teaching, not brochures.

Frequently asked questions
What is the average fee for IAS coaching in Hyderabad?
There is no reliable single average — figures quoted online go stale and often exclude test series or material. Compare written quotations covering live hours, evaluated tests and material instead of chasing an average.
Can I pay IAS coaching fees in instalments?
Most reputable institutes, including Pragnya IAS Academy, allow instalments tied to the programme calendar. Ask for the schedule and due dates in writing before you enrol.
Is expensive coaching always better?
No. Price says little; contact hours, human-evaluated answer scripts and mentor load decide quality. The fee checklist on our fees page shows what to compare.
