The 12-point checklist
| # | Check | What a good answer looks like |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Who teaches | Named faculty with UPSC experience teach your batch — not only recorded videos |
| 2 | Batch size | Small enough that the teacher knows your name and weak areas |
| 3 | Answer evaluation | Weekly answers checked with written comments, returned within days |
| 4 | Prelims tests | Regular tests with analysis, not just scores |
| 5 | Mentorship | Scheduled one-to-one reviews of your plan |
| 6 | Current affairs | Daily or weekly current affairs tied to the syllabus |
| 7 | Optional support | Guidance or classes for your optional subject |
| 8 | Results proof | Names, ranks and years you can verify on the UPSC result list |
| 9 | Fee transparency | Total fee in writing, what it includes, refund policy |
| 10 | Study material | Updated, syllabus-mapped notes — not decade-old printouts |
| 11 | Location / online | Commute you can sustain daily, or a live online option |
| 12 | Demo class | Free demo before payment |
Red flags to avoid
- Pressure to pay the full fee on the first visit.
- Result claims with photos but no names, ranks or years.
- No written answer evaluation — only lectures.
- Very large batches where doubts are never cleared.
