Frequently asked questions
Are UPSC essay topics repeated?
Exact topics are rarely repeated, but the themes behind them — values, society, economy, technology, environment and governance — recur every year.
Should I choose a philosophical topic or an issue-based topic?
Choose the topic you can support with the widest range of concrete examples. Many toppers pick abstract topics because they allow flexibility, but only if they can ground them in real life.
